All interested fifth grade students are welcome to sign up and join this great opportunity! Participants gather weekly to hone their research skills and learn more about black innovators in American history. Students will use primary sources, like letters, songs, interviews, pictures, and maps as well as newspaper articles, biographies, and much more to learn about our history. Final projects will be showcased and presented at the expo in February. Please stop by Mrs. Veid’s room to sign up by September 27th and hear more about the showcase!

Mon, 08/27/2018 - 3:40pmAll Longfellow school volunteers and field trip chaperones are required to complete the HCPSS online volunteer training each school year. Once you have completed the training, please print and sign the certificate. Return your signed certificate to the front office to be added to our list of registered volunteers.
Tue, 07/10/2018 - 11:19amAs we prepare for the 2018-2019 school year, LoES is seeking support positions to assist and support our students during the school day. The first opportunity is for those interested in serving as lunch and recess monitors. The hours for lunch monitors will be approximately 10:15 am to 2:00 pm working with grades K through 5. The schedule is flexible, but applicants can work up to 5 days a week and the rate of pay is $10.50 per hour. The other opportunity is for a temporary employee position in our early childhood program. This position would be for 24.5 hours per week also at a rate of $10.50 per hour. Mon, 05/21/2018 - 3:22pmOur 4th quarter Positive Behavior Intervention program celebration is going to be BINGO!! We are looking for donations of items that can be used as prizes for our bingo winners. Things such as posters, small bags, books, toys, stuffed animals, play dough, games and puzzles would be ideal! So, with that said, take a look around your garage and in that old bin that you aren't sure what it contains and send in any items you wish to donate with your child or drop them off in the front office. We ask that all items be brought in by June 4th. Thank you in advance!

LoES and Howard County Public Schools (HCPSS) value your input and partnership in supporting the academic success of your child.
