I am so thrilled to begin my 7th year at Longfellow Elementary and my 22nd in public education. I look forward to another fantastic year at Longfellow Elementary School, fostering a nurturing and dynamic learning environment for all students. I can’t wait to welcome back our eagles and get to know some new ones. Fun facts about me: I am originally from Anchorage, Alaska, have a special love for dinosaurs, and thoroughly enjoy educating and engaging with our youngest learners. My husband and I have three adult children, who are all graduates of HCPSS. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Mars Hill College, North Carolina, as well as a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction, along with a certification in Administration from McDaniel College. I began my professional journey in education in Montgomery County Public Schools in 2003 as a 2nd-grade teacher. In 2006, I joined the Howard County Public School System, teaching 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades at Bryant Woods ES and Cradlerock ES. In 2015, I was promoted to assistant principal of Laurel Woods Elementary School. Since 2018, I have been honored to serve the Longfellow community as assistant principal and principal beginning in 2023. I live by the inspiring quote, "What is done in love is done well." My love for the education of our youngest learners runs deep! I believe that when we nurture and inspire our students with genuine care and dedication, we lay the foundation for their lifelong success and well-being. My goal is to create an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential. Please don't hesitate to contact me throughout the school year if I can be of assistance or support in anyway. I look forward to leading, learning, and growing as we embark on another fruitful school year together in partnership.
