PROCEDURES & REMINDERS
Walker Procedures
We are considered a “walking community” which means well over 90% of our families are walkers or car-riders. As you may have observed, many family members and small children are either dropping off their families or waiting for students at dismissal. For the safety of our students and family members, there is absolutely no bike riding, skateboarding, running, chasing or horseplay during arrival or dismissal.
- Dismissal: All walkers will be dismissed from the primary door.
- All walkers and guardians/siblings are asked to use the sidewalks and crosswalks.
- For the safety of all families, please refrain from walking in the car or bus loop.
- Please pick your student up on time.
Car Rider Procedures
To ensure your child’s safety, do not take students from the carpool area. Call the front office by 3:15 pm to make the proper changes.
- Arrival:
- The morning carpool lane begins at 8:50 am.
- Stay in your vehicle. Staff members will unload students.
- Students may only be unloaded in the designated areas not in the parking lot.
- Dismissal: All car riders will be dismissed from their designated area.
- Stay in your vehicle. Staff members will load students.
- Use only the designated car loop area to drop off or pick up students.
- Never leave your car unattended or running in the car loop.
- U-turns are not allowed at any time in the car loop.
- Always have students exit car on the passenger or curbside.
- Remember to stop at the crosswalk to ensure the safety of all students, pedestrians, and staff members.
Bus/Van Rider Procedures:
During arrival & dismissal, parents/guardians please use the car loop to drop off & pick up your students not the bus loop. Adhering to this guidance by HCPSS Security team will prevent vehicular accidents between school and family vehicles.
- Designated staff members will assist students with loading and unloading vehicles.
- All bus and van riders will be dismissed to the front bus loop from the primary doors accompanied by a designated staff member.
- Bus & van drivers should not pass in each in the bus loop.
- All vans should wait/park close to the entrance until brought up by an administrator or designated staff member.
SAFETY REMINDERS
- For the safety of our staff and students, family members are not permitted in the building (classrooms, restrooms, band rooms, etc.) or the vestibule area during arrival and dismissal.
- Please prepare your students for various types of weather. (Coats, Jackets, Ponchos, Rainboots, umbrellas, sunscreen, etc.)
- To ensure efficient arrival and dismissal procedures, please make appointments with your child’s teacher to conference so that our teachers can give our parents the quality time deserved, rather than holding quick conversations during arrival and dismissal in the car loop
- For the safety of our staff and students, pets are not permitted on school property during arrival and dismissal.
